Volunteers are needed for the rather intriguing activity of balsam pulling on Saturday.
Helpers from Kingston, Epsom and Ewell are coming together to remove the Himalayan plant from the banks of the Hogsmill and Bonesgate rivers to stop it smothering indigenous greenery.
Pulling the plant out by hand helps stop its spread and will benefit local wildlife.
Anyone interested in helping out should meet at the Bonesgate pub, Moor Lane, Chessington, on June 28, at 10am.
For more information, call Kingston Council’s environmental services on 020 8547 5929.
