Police investigating the deaths of two French students have made their seventh arrest.

A 19-year-old man from Ramsgate, Kent was arrested by detectives in relation to the deaths of Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo.

He was arrested at an address in Margate by Kent Police on behalf of the Met.

He is currently in custody in Kent but is due to be transferred to a south London police station for questioning.

Mr Ferez, who lived in South Norwood, was killed after visiting his friend, Mr Bonomo, at his New Cross bedsit.

The pair's bodies were found bound and gagged on June 29 after a fire at the flat.

Postmortem examinations showed the two men, both aged 23, had suffered numerous stab wounds.

Officers have already charged Nigel Edward Farmer, 33, of no fixed address with the pair’s murder.

Farmer has also been charged with arson and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He appeared at Greenwich Magistrates’ Court on July 10 and was remanded in custody to appear before the Old Bailey on October 16.

Daniel Sonnex, 23, from Peckham Park Road, Peckham, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on July 14 charged with the students’ murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was remanded in custody to appear before the Old Bailey on October 20.

Officers investigating the case also arrested a 21-year-old man on July 5 who was later released without charge.

A 35-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were also arrested at an address in Streatham and have been bailed to return to a south London police station for further questioning on August 19.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice after attending a south London police station on July 16. He has been bailed to return on August 25.
