A man posing as a policeman kidnapped two sisters at gunpoint and demanded they drive him to Streatham police station.

The man, who police believe may be from Streatham, approached two women in Kensington after they had watched an Eric Clapton concert in Hyde Park on June 28.

Dressed in a police uniform, he demanded to search the girl’s car under terrorism laws.

He got into the vehicle after refusing to show any identification and told the women they were under arrest.

He ordered the two terrified sisters, aged 21 and 27, to drive him back to Streatham police station.

Arriving in Streatham, he produced a gun and demanded their credit cards.

The 27 year-old victim was told to tape up her sister's wrist with red electrical tape provided by the man.

But she fought him and grabbed the gun, which she then realised was an imitation.

The man dragged the two women from the vehicle before speeding off in their purple S Reg VW Polo.

Police are now hunting for the suspect who is described as a black male, aged about 30, about 5ft 9in tall with cropped hair. He had facial stubble or a moustache and was wearing what appeared to be a policeman's uniform, including headwear, a dark jumper and dark trousers.

Detective Constable Kristina Godwin of Notting Hill CID said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the two women by a man posing as a police officer.

“It is vital we catch him as soon as possible as he is dangerous, and by posing as a police officer is able to make any potential victims believe he is genuine.

“Forcing one victim to tie up the other and holding a gun to them, albeit fake, shows the level of violence he is prepared to use."
