A Southfields man has admitted raping a woman and stealing her iPod after following her for half a mile after she got off a night bus.

Daniel Webb, 22, of Keevil Drive, appeared at Kingston Crown Court and admitted thee counts of rape and one count of robbery.

He denied two counts of assault by penetration.

The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, May 4.

Having missed her last train home after work, the 22-year-old victim caught a night bus to Tibbetts Corner.

Webb followed her for half a mile along Princes Way before dragging her into the bushes and raping her.

Speaking outside the court, Detective Constable Rob Merritt said it was the most malicious case he had seen in the three years he has worked in Wandsworth’s Sapphire unit, which investigates sexual offences.

Webb, who has been remanded in custody, will be sentenced on September 10.
