Last Friday’s RockStock at the Charles Cryer Theatre featured five great young bands and, in keeping with RockStock’s continuing reputation for introducing new talent to the borough, two of those bands were new to the RockStock stage.

Beneath the Living were the first of the newcomers and, overcoming their initial nerves, did a fine job in opening the show with a rollicking set of really good original material.

Next up came Security Within Shadows who, by now familiar to the RockStockers (the faithful RockStock audience), stunned the crowd with a full-bore blast of interweaving guitar solos and dark vocals.

Inhumane were the evenings second debutants but they seemed comfortable right from the start with a hugely crowd pleasing repertoire of strong, forceful songs.

Taking the second to last spot were Overreact, a thrilling three-piece with a style that seemed rooted in Punk but with a genuine tuneful edge – very enjoyable.

Finally to close the show, enter 75 Stories. Having taken the gig at short notice to replace a band that couldn’t play they simply went for it and had the crowd whooping and jumping and dancing right to the end of a much demanded encore.

RockStock is back again at the Charles Cryer Theatre, Carshalton on August 15 with one of the best line-ups of the year so far. Bands confirmed are Iosist, Black Lantern, Skorge, with two newcomers, Among the Wolves and Just a Thought.

As usual tickets are £7 and the doors open at 7.00pm All enquires to Gary at RockStock on 07832 102510 or rockstock@tiscali.co.uk or myspace.com/rockstocklive
