A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Streatham Common murder investigation.

Residents living on Edgington Road, a quiet cul-de-sac, were shocked to learn Simon Dean, 44, had been stabbed to death on their street at the weekend.

Officers say they discovered Mr Dean’s body after being called to an address on the road at 3.41am on Sunday.

Detectives say they arrested a man at 7pm yesterday after carrying out forensic investigations at the property.

He is currently in custody at a south London police station.

A postmortem examination was due to be carried out at Greenwich Mortuary this morning.
