A major bridge was closed in both directions after a police incident.
Kingston Bridge was shut as emergency services responded to an incident.
The closure affected all traffic in both directions and caused delays across the surrounding road network, with seven bus routes also diverted.
London Ambulance Service confirmed it attended the scene.
A spokesperson for the service said: "We were called at 5.05pm yesterday (20 August) to reports of an incident on Kingston Bridge, Kingston upon Thames.
"We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and paramedics from our Hazardous Area Response Team.
"We treated a patient at the scene and took her to hospital."
The incident led to road closures on the A308 between High Street and Clarence Street, with delays reported along affected routes.
Traffic built up in surrounding areas as motorists tried to avoid the closure, with delays on Horse Fair, London Road, Hampton Court Road, Upper Teddington Road and Sandy Lane.
