A woman in her 20s has died following a collision in Epsom overnight involving a car and a stationary street cleaning vehicle.
The incident took place on Christ Church Road just before 11.40pm last night (August 5), and involved a black Smart car.
The woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her next of kin have been notified.
The driver of the Smart car, a man in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed limit, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and causing death by driving while uninsured.
He has been taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Surrey Police closed the road overnight to carry out investigations, reopening it shortly after 9.45am.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses and information to assist with their enquiries.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: "We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision, or who may have CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident, to get in touch.

"We are particularly interested in the manner of driving of the black Smart car in the moments leading up to the collision."
