A house has been cordoned off by police in Prince Road, Thornton Heath after a man was stabbed to death nearby in the early hours of the morning.
Officers were called to Livingstone Road, Thornton Heath, at 4.52am on Thursday, July 9, following reports of an assault involving a group of men.
The incident is believed to be linked to an earlier altercation on Prince Road, just a short distance away.
A man in his 20s later arrived at a nearby hospital with injuries consistent with a stab wound.
Despite efforts by medical staff, he was pronounced dead.
Police have confirmed he was involved in the Livingstone Road incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are first and foremost with the victim's family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time.
"Officers responded swiftly to this incident and three men have been arrested as part of our ongoing investigation.
"At this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident however, local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days while enquiries continue."
Three men, aged 28, 38, and 44, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.
