A primary school pupil could soon find himself performing at Shakespeare’s Globe after reaching the grand final of a major poetry competition.
Year 5 student Oliver, who attends Muschamp Primary School in Carshalton, is one of just ten national finalists in the Poetry by Heart contest - selected from thousands of entries across the UK.
Heidi Westley, headteacher at Muschamp Primary School, said: "Oliver’s performance, during the school-based competition, was a standout winner, showing an amazing ability to captivate his audience and use every word with feeling.

Oliver impressed judges with his recitations of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf by Roald Dahl and What the Fly Thinks by Gertrude Heath. As a finalist, he has won an all-expenses-paid overnight trip.
The trip includes a tour of Shakespeare’s Globe. He will also perform at the iconic theatre as part of the Poetry by Heart grand final, which takes place in July.
