A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was seriously injured in a stabbing in Walton-on-Thames.
Police were called at around 5pm on Tuesday (May 13) following reports of an altercation involving a number of men on a boat near the Anglers pub in Manor Road.
A man in his 30s suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital for treatment.
Officers quickly attended the scene and arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
A number of cordons were in place around the area and a significant police presence is expected to continue while enquiries are carried out.
Inspector David Richardson, who is leading the investigation, said: “There is a significant police presence in the area tonight, including a police drone and the police helicopter, while we carry out our enquiries.
"While we have made an arrest, we are still seeking further information and we urge anyone who saw what happened, or with any other information, to come forward as a matter of urgency.
“We appreciate that the police activity may cause concern and distress amongst local residents, and we would like to reassure you that we are working diligently to establish the circumstances of what happened earlier today.
“If you have any concerns, please speak to one of the officers in the area.”

"The incident was reported around 5pm, with witnesses reporting that a number of men were involved in an altercation on a boat near the Anglers public house in Manor Road.
"A man in his 30s has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
"There are a number of cordons in place in the area and officers are likely to remain at the scene for some time while enquiries continue."
