Labour has lost control of Lambeth Borough Council for the first time in 20 years.
The final results of the 2026 elections in Lambeth across all wards have now been declared today (May 9), with the Greens winning 29 seats compared to Labour's 26.
The Liberal Democrats won eight seats.
This is the first time Labour has lost power in the borough since 2006.
The Greens previously had just four seats in Lambeth, with Labour on 54.
The count was held at the Oval cricket ground on Friday (May 8) and Saturday (May 9) following the election the previous day which saw a turn-out of 39.4 per cent.
Ian Davis, the Returning Officer for Lambeth Council, said: “I want to congratulate Lambeth’s newly elected and returning councillors.
“I would also like to thank everyone who took part in this election, including voters, all the candidates and their agents.
“Putting on this election was a big task so I also wanted to thank the staff who supported the successful running of both the poll and the count.”
Two other Labour boroughs have been won by the Green Party, Hackney and Waltham Forest, while Westminster was taken by the Conservatives.
