A former MP has admitted to possessing illegal drugs.
Crispin Blunt, 65, represented the Reigate constituency for 27 years before stepping down ahead of the 2024 general election.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday, March 25, where he pleaded guilty to one count of possessing class A drugs and three counts of possessing class B drugs.
The charges followed a police raid at his home in Horley, Surrey on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

During the raid, officers found GBL, a sedative, as well as cannabis, methamphetamine and methylamphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth.
The investigation that led to the discovery of the drugs was originally launched after Mr Blunt was accused of rape.
After an 18-month investigation, Surrey Police announced in May last year that no further action would be taken on the rape allegation due to insufficient evidence.
Mr Blunt served as the Conservative MP for Reigate from 1997 until 2024.
He was part of David Cameron’s government, serving as parliamentary under-secretary of state for prisons and youth justice from 2010 to 2012.
He later chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee from 2015 to 2017.
In October 2023, Mr Blunt lost the Conservative whip following his arrest, and subsequently decided not to stand for re-election.
Before entering politics, Mr Blunt graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and served as an officer in the British Army for more than a decade.
