A new outdoor gym and dog park have been introduced in Croydon as part of a wider parks improvement programme, as reported by our sister title London Now.
The facilities at Addiscombe Recreation Ground form part of Croydon Council’s continued investment in green spaces across the borough.
Four additional parks are also set to receive new outdoor gyms later this year, London Now reports, where further details of the improvements can be read.
Jason Perry, executive mayor of Croydon, said: "It was great to open the new outdoor gym and to see Croydon Calisthenics in action, as well as opening our first dog exercise area in Addiscombe Rec.
"This is all part of our investment in our parks to make them more inviting for residents across the borough to use.
"With more gyms, dog parks and playgrounds on the way, we are listening and delivering what our residents want."
The gym has been designed with input from Croydon Calisthenics and members of the public, who were consulted during feedback sessions last year.
Other parks set to benefit from new outdoor gyms include South Norwood Lakes, Upper Norwood Recreation Ground, Higher Drive Recreation Ground and Selsdon Recreation Ground.
In addition to the gym, the council has launched its first designated dog exercise area at the park—a secure, enclosed space where dogs can be safely let off the lead.
The new dog park is the first of four planned for Croydon, with future sites to include Thornton Heath Recreation Ground, Brickfield Meadows and South Norwood Country Park.
Two further locations are to be confirmed later in the year.
Funding for both the outdoor gyms and dog parks comes from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), from which Croydon has received £1.4 million.

The council is using the money to support projects that boost community spaces, business support, and training opportunities.
The new amenities are part of Croydon’s wider investment in its parks.
Over the past two years, the council has installed ten new playgrounds, with three more due to open soon.
Croydon Calisthenics joined Jason Perry for the official launch.
The council said the outdoor gyms are free to use and designed to be accessible for all residents.
The new dog park responds directly to resident requests for safe, fenced areas where dogs can be exercised off-lead without concern.
