A person has been taken to hospital after a crash in Croydon which has shut a road for hours.

Police taped off Church Road, near Ryland House, today (March 18) at 12.43am following the incident.

The first paramedic arrived at the scene in five minutes and a patient was treated.

He was then taken to hospital, where his condition is unknown.

Footage showed a stretch of the road closed off with police blocking off the area.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.43am today (March 18) to reports of a road traffic collision in Church Road, Croydon.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.

“We also sent a paramedic and a doctor in a car from Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

“The first paramedic arrived in five minutes.

“We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”

The Metropolitan Police has been approached for further information.
