After a man has died in hospital following a stabbing in Battersea, we have rounded up everything there is to know about the incident.
A major emergency service presence has been in Thessaly Road, Battersea, and the surrounding area since yesterday evening (March 2).
The Metropolitan Police was dispatched to the scene at around 6.15pm following reports of an incident.
Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and a man in his 20s was found to be suffering from knife wounds.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition where it was confirmed this morning (March 3) that he had died, London Now reports.
An investigation has been launched, with a significant crime scene set in place spanning from Thessaly Road and along Savona Road up to its junction with Battersea Park Road.
It appears from today's scene that forensic officers are currently focussing their attention on a playground off Thessaly Road.
Other officers were seen scouring what is understood to have been a trail of blood spatters within the cordon by Battersea Park Road.
Two men, aged 28 and 38, have been arrested and remain in police custody at this time.
Officers are now urging witnesses or those with information to come forward and contact police on 101 with the reference CAD6165/2MAR.
It is not the first fatal stabbing incident to have occurred on Thessaly Road.
In August 2023, 32-year-old Theo Porteous was fatally stabbed in a car park off the same street.
While unrelated to yesterday's incident, the incident has brought back past memories of Theo's death, with one resident telling Riverside Radio: "Obviously this is terrible news. This is not the first one in the area."
Another resident, Marcelo, spoke with Riverside Radio when he likened the crime scene and emergency response to that of the day of Theo's murder.
It is unclear when Thessaly Road will reopen following this latest incident, though it is understood that this is not expected to be this evening.
Det Chf Insp Brian Howie said: “This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts remain firmly with the victim’s family during this extremely difficult time.
“A homicide investigation has now been launched and we are working urgently to establish the full circumstances surrounding this attack."
