A popular Kosovan singer and Big Brother star has paid tribute to her nephew who was stabbed to death in Croydon.

Lorik Abazi, 22, died in hospital after he was stabbed in Valley Retail Park in the early hours of February 15.

Days after the death, singer Ganimete Abazi, who goes by the stage name Ganja, revealed that Lorik was her nephew.

In a message to her 56,000 followers on social media, she shared a tribute to her nephew and “soul”.

She wrote: “Life is often unfair and hits you where it hurts the most.

“Rest in peace, my nephew, my soul, because we will live with the pain for you, with the memories and the love you gave us.

“Ahhh, how hard it is to say goodbye, our Lorik.”

Ganimete is a popular singer from Pristina, appearing on the country’s edition of Celebrity Big Brother.

Lorik was described by his family as “a caring, smart young man with a good sense of humour and his whole future ahead of him”.

They added: “We, his parents, brother, girlfriend, grandparents and extended family and friends loved him very much.

“A light has gone out in our lives, and we are devastated beyond words by his loss.”

Police were called at around 1.15am after three people were stabbed on Hesterman Way, near IKEA in Croydon.

A second man taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries has been discharged from hospital. 

He was taken to custody and has since been released on bail.

10 people have been arrested in relation to the incident.

Ellis Anim-Annor, 28, of Belgravia Gardens in Bromley, will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on February 19, charged with murder.

Enquiries into the incident continue. Anyone with information or footage that could help the investigation is asked to submit it online or call police on 101, quoting CAD 511/15FEB.
