A Croydon social gaming venue is slashing every game to £1 to celebrate its first birthday, as reported by our sister title London Now.

Playbox, based in Boxpark Croydon, will mark the milestone with a special birthday takeover running from Thursday, February 26 to Monday, March 2, offering £1 games across all activities including pool, shuffleboard and electric darts.

The venue, which describes itself as an immersive social gaming destination, is promising a week of big prizes, live leaderboards and an exclusive £350 giveaway, London Now reports, where further details of the birthday celebrations can be read.

A spokesperson for Playbox said: "PLAYBOX is inviting Londoners to get competitive with a birthday bash packed with £1 games, live leaderboards, big prizes, and an exclusive £350 giveaway."

To mark the occasion, Playbox will host the ‘Playbox Play-Offs,’ where guests can compete for prizes by submitting their top scores to a live leaderboard.

The main birthday event takes place on February 26 and will feature goodie bags, a spin-the-wheel giveaway, a birthday cake moment, and upgraded leaderboard rewards.

The spokesperson said: "Throughout the anniversary period, PLAYBOX will be hosting its PLAYBOX Play-Offs, encouraging guests to submit their best scores to the venue’s live leaderboard for the chance to win a range of exciting prizes, including golden ticket rewards for top players."

Since opening, Playbox has become a popular spot in Croydon.
