Richmond's Christmas celebrations will be kicked off by British television icon Basil Brush this year.
The star is set to lead the annual Christmas lights switch-on event, hosted by Be Richmond, between 4pm and 6pm on Thursday, November 27.
The popular character will lead the countdown, entertaining families, residents, and fans with his well-known "Boom Boom" catchphrase.
This marks his return to the town before he takes on a role in Richmond Theatre’s Christmas pantomime, Cinderella.
Be Richmond has said the switch-on event is one of the highlights of the winter calendar.
A spokesperson for Be Richmond said: "The lights bring people together, support our local businesses, and mark the true beginning of Christmas in Richmond.
"Having Basil Brush join us makes this year feel even more joyful."
The event will feature live music, children's entertainment, local performances, festive food stalls, and late-night shopping from participating businesses.
Thousands are expected to attend the event, which forms part of Be Richmond's ongoing commitment to supporting the town centre with free family events that boost footfall, encourage community engagement, and celebrate everything that makes Richmond distinctive.
The switch-on will mark the start of a season of festive activity across the area.
