Police have searched the streets of Putney after gunshots were reportedly heard early this morning.

Several police officers swarmed Hayward Gardens at 2.52am today (May 29) after the reports were made.

According to one local, three “very loud bangs” were heard in the area.

A police helicopter hovered around East Putney and near the Ashburton Estate as officers also searched on foot.

However, there was no evidence found of a victim or of a gun being discharged.

No arrests have also been made.

Part of Roehampton Lane remained taped off over the rest of the morning until noon.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 02:52hrs on Thursday, 29 May to reports of gunshots being heard near Hayward Gardens, Putney.

“Officers carried out a search of the area. No victims or evidence of a firearm discharge was found. No arrests have been made.”
