Police flocked to Thornton Heath after reports of gunshots.
The incident was reported at 2pm on Friday, September 28 in Lucerne Road.
At the scene, police established that these “gunshots” had been fireworks set off and no gunshots had been fired.
No one was arrested.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by a concerned member of the public at approximately 14:00hrs on Friday, 28 September who reported hearing gunshots in the vicinity of Lucerne Road, Thornton Heath.
“Officers attended and spoke to a group of people.
“It was established there had been instances of fireworks being set off and that no firearm had been discharged.
“There were no arrests and information will be passed to the local Safer Neighbourhood Team in relation to the antisocial behaviour.”
