13 restaurants in Croydon have scored poor food hygiene ratings this year.
Of these, six venues scored a 2/5 – meaning improvement was “necessary” during inspections since January.
Six places scored a 1/5, meaning “major improvement necessary.”
Inspectors from Croydon Council’s environmental health even found that one of these scored the lowest possible score, a 0/5, meaning that “urgent improvement” was necessary.
We have listed the restaurants, the date their rating was given, and the ratings inspectors gave each area.
It’s important to note that this list is only about Croydon restaurants, and did not feature any takeaways, coffee shops or sandwich shops.
Dhinchak
This Indian restaurant on 785 London Road in Thornton Heath was given a 0/5, meaning “urgent improvement necessary”, on July 3, 2024.
The cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety fell under “major improvement necessary”, while hygienic food handling fell under “improvement necessary”.
Efie Ne Fie
This West African restaurant on 50 High Street in Thornton Heath was given a 1/5 rating on March 20.
The hygienic food handling was found to be generally satisfactory, while the cleanliness of the facilities and building needed necessary improvement.
Major improvement was found necessary in the management of food safety.
Ideal Sweets
This Pakistani restaurant on 1460 London Road in Norbury was given a 1/5 rating on June 28.
The hygienic food handling was found to be generally satisfactory, while the cleanliness of the facilities and building needed necessary improvement.

This West African restaurant on 89 Lower Addiscombe Road was given a 1/5 rating on July 19.

Rupees Grill
This Indian restaurant on 184 Wickham Road was given a 1/5 rating on July 29.
Improvement was found to be necessary in the restaurant’s hygienic food handling, and major improvement was necessary in the cleanliness of the facilities.
The management of food safety was generally satisfactory.
Curry Leaf
This Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant on 256 Coulsdon Road was given a 2/5 rating on August 1.
Improvement was found to be necessary in its hygienic food handling, while the cleanliness of the facilities and the management of food safety were generally satisfactory.
Food Station
This Indian restaurant on 77A Station Road was given a 2/5 rating on February 12.
Inspectors said improvement was necessary in its hygienic food handling but the cleanliness of the facilities and management of food safety were generally satisfactory.
Krunk Burgers
This burger joint on Brighton Road in South Croydon was given a 2/5 rating on June 26.
The hygienic food handling and management of food safety were generally satisfactory, while the cleanliness of the facilities needed necessary improvement.
Rujis
This Indian restaurant on 820 London Road in Thornton Heath was given a 2/5 rating on August 24.
