A man has been arrested outside of an Asda in Sutton on suspicion of multiple offences.
Officers who were patrolling the town centre on foot spotted a man who they believed to know as someone wanted for failing to appear at court, on suspicion of shoplifting and on suspicion of threatening shop staff with a hatchet.
Police chased the suspect on foot and arrested him outside of Asda.
MPS Sutton tweeted: “Your Sutton officers were on foot patrol in the town centre and spotted an adult male who they knew to be wanted for Failing to Appear at court - he was also wanted for a recent shoplifting offence, and for also threatening shop staff with a hatchet.
“After a short foot chase, the suspect was detained outside Asda, and arrested for all offences.”
