All Southern Rail lines between East Croydon and Purley are currently blocked due to trespassers on the railway.

As a result, Southern Rail has switched the power off to keep people safe.

The incident primarily affects trains between Caterham/Tattenham and London Bridge.

Services towards Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges via Redhill are also impacted by the incident.

This means that some Southern Rail trains may be at a standstill or travelling more slowly than normal.

The train provider is sharing updates on its X page and has a live map showing the interruptions.

On X, Southern Rail said: “All lines are blocked between East Croydon and Purley.

“This is due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between these stations.”

It added: “This incident has been confirmed as trespassers on the railway.

“The power has been switched off to ensure everybody’s safety and trains on the line may be at a stand still or travelling slower than normal.”
