An investigation has been launched by police after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Sutton.
The teen reported she was assaulted by a person known to her in Sutton Town Centre and Collingwood Road Recreation Ground just after 11.55pm on May 21.
She is now being supported by specialist police officers.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
He was taken to a south London police station where he was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 23:57hrs on Tuesday, 21 May to reports of a girl being sexually assaulted in Sutton Town Centre and at Collingwood Road Recreation Ground.
“The victim, a teenage girl, reported serious sexual assaults committed by a person known to her.
“She is being supported by specialist officers.
“A 20-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
“He was taken to a south London police station where he was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
“The investigation continues.”
