Four men have been assessed at the scene of a huge fire at a derelict pub in Mitcham this evening.

Firefighters were called to a fire at the Burn Bullock pub on London Road in Mitcham today (Friday) just before 7.30pm.

The roof and the ground, first and second floors of a derelict pub were alight.

Four men were assessed on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as a water tower.

Two gas cylinders were removed from the property as a precaution as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

The fire was under control by 10.18pm.

Fire crews from Norbury, Wimbledon, Tooting and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
