Despite a skyline of endless buildings, London has been named one of the UK's greenest regions.

A new wellness study by outdoor leisure company Blacks has found the regions in the UK that offer the most relaxing getaways with a focus on areas with large green spaces.

While London and green spaces might not be something that seems possible, the capital offers dozens of large outdoor areas.

From the vast Hype Park, St James Park, Greenwich Park, Regents Park, Richmond Park, Clapham Common and more, the list goes on.

Despite many Londoners having a very small garden or no garden at all, the capital offers an alternative with the offering of public green spaces.

Now, thanks to the many parks in London, the region has been named the fourth greenest place in the UK.

The study focused on the amount of tree coverage percentage, with London having an average of 19% for the category.

Describing the study, Blacks shared: "Access to outdoor spaces, especially green or nature spaces, can significantly impact an individual's mental and physical wellbeing."

Adding: "As such, areas with more green spaces offer a greater chance for exposure and potentially a better state of wellbeing."

The capital was joint fourth alongside, the likes of Oxfordshire, Surrey and East Sussex.
