I visited the newly opened tulip field at Tulleys Farm, just an hour's drive from London, and I’ve never seen so many tulips in one place.

I’ll admit I’ve not yet seen the famed tulip fields of Holland, but when life gives you lemons, or in this case a tulip field 60 minutes’ drive from south east London, you make lemonade.

Recently Tulleys Farm in Crawley opened its brand new Tulip Fest attraction over the Easter weekend, which features a whopping 10 kilometres worth of tulips with 500,000 blooms.

I visited with my family on a particularly windy Sunday morning in a bid to explore the fields and get some photos at the various photo spots.

The day we went was particularly busy with a lot of people already there, who were flocking to the various photo backdrops around the field.

There were several backdrops including a wooden bridge, bench, large wheelbarrow and a wooden windmill dotted around the field.

The tulips themselves were a mix of colours from deep reds to vibrant yellows and whites, and honestly made for some beautiful photos.

The field itself was easy to walk around, although some areas were muddy due to the wet weather over the weekend.

As it gets busy, if you want to visit during a quieter time it’s definitely worth checking the website to see which slots have the best availability, particularly weekdays.

It’s also a dog-friendly event, with dogs welcome to attend on leads, so there were plenty there, and Tulleys even sold tulip-themed dog treats, collars and toys in the shop.

The event also had live music performances as well as a range of food stalls selling things like hot and cold drinks and pancakes, along with a shop selling tulips where you could make your own bouquet combination.
