A man has been arrested after he allegedly made threats to kill at a home in Sutton.

Police were called to reports of a man behaving erratically in Throwley Way at 5.20pm on February 5.

Officers attempted to engage with the man, who was reportedly threatening violence and criminal damage, but he refused to speak to police.

A number of residents were also evacuated from homes nearby as a safety precaution.

At around 10.35pm, the man was arrested by Met's Territorial Support Group officers on suspicion of making threats to kill and threats to cause criminal damage.

He was taken to a south London police station where the remains at this time.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “At 17:20hrs on Monday, 5 February police in Sutton were called to reports of a man behaving erratically at a residential address on Throwley Way.

“At the scene a man was threatening violence and criminal damage.

“Officers attempted to engage with the man, but he refused to speak to police.

“A number of residents were evacuated as a safety precaution.

“At around 22:35hs the man was arrested by officers from the Met's Territorial Support Group on suspicion of making threats to kill and threats to cause criminal damage.

“He was taken to a South London police station where the remains at this time. We thank local residents for their patience and co-operation.”
