A south London restaurant that prides itself on serving authentic ramen at an affordable price has been shortlisted for the 2024 Deliveroo restaurant awards.

Koi Ramen Bar first opened on the street in Brixton and now has locations in Elephant and Castle, Herne Hill, Tooting and Brixton and will celebrate its ten year anniversary next month.

It is owned and run by couple Ming Chan and Hiroko Takata who are “really proud” to be shortlisted.

They said: “This is more of a dream and a passion for us, rather than a business, so we’re so happy that people enjoy what we serve.

“We like to think we serve high quality, authentic Japanese Ramen, and really good prices.

“So that anyone can enjoy it, just like it’s done in Japan.”

This spring, they are opening another branch in east London.

Ming and Hiroko wanted to open a ramen restaurant serving high quality, authentic Japanese food that doesn’t break the bank, just like it is in Japan.

They added: “I think they like the food and they like our vibe.

“We’re more street foody than other restaurants and always with an open kitchen, as it always is in Japan.

“So you can see what we’re doing, and we can see you.”

Deliveroo has split the shortlisted restaurants up into categories: Best Chinese, best pizza, best sushi, best poke, best Indian & Nepalese, best burger & American, best Thai, best chicken, best Japanese and best breakfast and coffee.

It has revealed the top spots across Greater London, and nine spots are from south London.

Voting closes on Sunday, January 21 so Deliveroo urges people to cast their votes asap.

The winners will be revealed on February 15.
