New signing Calvin Andrew scored twice last night as Crystal Palace kept up their unbeaten pre-season by cruising to victory against lowly Tavistock.
The six foot striker joined the club from Luton Town last week and marked his first start for the club with goals either side of half time against the South West Peninsula Premier League side.
He opened the scoring in the 38th minute before half-time substitute Ben Watson doubled the lead nine minutes after the break as Palace scored three goals in four minutes.
Danny Butterfield's cross was turned into his own net by a Tavistock defender before Andrew tapped home again to complete the rout.
Manager Neil Warnock was impressed with Andrew but rued the amount of chances his side missed. He said: "It was a good workout but we missed quite a few chances and should have been four or five up in the first half."We obviously haven't worked on the strikers yet though."That's the best we have looked so far this season in terms of fitness."Andrew looked sharp and he has done well this week but just lacks a little match fintess which is why I took him off near the end."
Palace next face Bodmin Town on Wednesday night.
Palace: Speroni, Hill, Butterfield, McCarthy, Fonte, Derry (c), Carle, Soares, Scannell, Ifill, Andrew.
