A thief from Croydon assaulted two men while stealing two candles from a shop.
Davion Defoe, 21, of Macclesfield Road in Norbury, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop and two counts of assault by beating.
The offences took place at Poundstretcher in Croydon, when he stole two candles worth £10.
On January 8 he appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court where he was given a one-year community order.
Defoe will be required to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work.
He will pay £10 compensation to the shop and £100 compensation to each of the men he assaulted.
Defoe was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £114 victim surcharge.
