An award-winning wellbeing café and restaurant with coworking spaces and yoga classes has opened a new branch in Sutton.

Oru Space Café in East Dulwich was named winner of the Best Café award at the Good Food Awards 2024.

And yesterday (January 4) it opened its second branch in Sutton, in Times Square Shopping Centre.

The venue features coworking spaces, along with a café and restaurant under the name Trinco, serving Tami Sri Lankan cuisine using plant-based ingredients.

The ethos behind Oru Space is centred around creative, “inclusive” and “accessible” community spaces that promote “coworking” and “wellbeing”.

It offers a relaxed, plant-filled hub with a daytime menu, that “transforms” into an intimate setting at night with an evening menu.

The new Sutton cafe seats 150 people and serves a range of hot and cold dishes with a Tamil Sri-Lankan twist, from cold dahl dishes to seasonal salads.

Founder Vibushan Thirikumar described the new venue as a “vibrant” space with possibility, with the Trinco café and restaurant serving as the “heart of the building".

He added that the achievement of opening a second site was down to Oru's time and commitment to quality in sustainable food and design.

He added: "Embarking on the journey of opening a second site after the success of our first in East Dulwich has brought a mix of nostalgia and an exhilarating anticipation of new horizons.

“Oru Sutton is vibrant with possibility, and the Trinco cafe and restaurant is already becoming the heart of the building - both inviting customers in from the high street and creating a space for current coworking and wellbeing members to connect and relax.

“So much time has gone into sustainable design, food development and commitment to quality - it’s really important to us to challenge the conventions of what is expected from a restaurant, to prioritise flavour without compromising on health.

“For me personally, it’s also really exciting to be sharing Tamil Sri-Lankan inspired food and drink with a new community, so close to where I grew up."

Trinco in Sutton is open for bookings on weekdays from 8.30am - 4pm, and weekends from 9am-4pm.
