A new beer inspired by Kew Gardens has been launched in conjunction with Wells and Young's Brewery.
Young's Kew Gold beer is inspired by hops grown at Kew Gardens and a proportion of the sale of every bottle will be donated towards the vital work that the gardens undertake to restore habitats and save endangered plant species.
John Lonsdale, head of public programmes and curatorial support, said: "Kew is working to increase and share our acquired knowledge of plants, their potential uses and the importance that they have on surrounding biodiversity.
"As Kew approaches its 250th anniversary in 2009, we are delighted to be working with our long-standing supporters, Wells and Young's."
Head brewer at Wells and Young's, Jim Robertson added: "It has been great to work with Kew Gardens in developing this beer. Not only is it a perfect summer beer that is fresh and bursting with flavour, but with the sale of every bottle, it will contribute towards the vital plant conservation work that Kew is trying to achieve."
The beer is available in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose at £1.75 for a 500ml bottle.
