Hit comedy Ted Lasso has stolen the hearts of viewers, especially those from south London where most of the series is filmed.

The show can be watched on Apple TV and first aired back in 2020 and has only grown in popularity throughout the last few years.

It follows Richmond Football Club after manager, Rebecca Welton (played by Hannah Waddingham), wins the club in a nasty divorce after her husband cheats on her.

In a bid to get revenge, she puts her efforts into destroyed the team, and in doing so she hires Ted Lasso (played by Jason Sudeikis), an American football coach who knows nothing about soccer.

However, to her dismay his contagious positivity and enthusiasm helps the team more than it hurts them and he becomes loved by everyone he meets.

In Ted Lasso, Richmond FC features players from across the globe.

However, you may not know that some of them are from south London.

Brett Goldstein, who not only plays Roy Kent but also wrote Ted Lasso, grew up in Sutton.

Toheeb Jimoh, plays optimistic and kind footballer Sam Obisanya.

In Ted Lasso, his character has left his family behind in Nigeria to play on the team, but in reality the actor grew up in Brixton.

Toheeb was born in Brixton and his parents of Nigerian descent.

He did move to Nigeria as a toddler but returned to London when he was seven.

Toheeb attended The Norwood School in Brixton before going to train at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 2018.

Since rising to fame in Ted Lasso, he has appeared in the Amazon thriller series The Power, based on Naomi Alderman’s novel by the same name.

He also has a small part in The French Dispatch and in the summer of 2023 he played Romeo in a production of Romeo and Juliet at the Almeida Theatre in London.
