Bin collection days in Sutton will operate on a special timetable during this year’s holiday period.

Collections scheduled between Monday, December 25, and Thursday, December 28, will take place two days later.

This means waste scheduled to be picked up on Monday, December 25, will be collected on Wednesday, December 27 instead, for example.

Those expecting collections on Friday, December 29, will take place four days later on January 2, while collections on December 30 will take place three days late.

Collections scheduled between Monday, January 1, to Thursday, January 4, will take place two days later while collections taken on January 5 will take place three days later.

Collections on Saturday, January 6 will take place two days late while collections between Monday, January 8, and Friday, January 12 will take place a day later than expected.

There will be no change for bins left out on Saturday, January 12 and normal collections are set to resume on Monday 15 January.

The local authority has urged people to place their bins out by 6 am on the day of collection.

Christmas tree collection

Anyone wanting to have their genuine Christmas trees disposed of should start to leave them outside from January 8.

Make sure to leave them outside your address by 6:30 am as the council will aim to pick them up within two weeks. If you live in a flat, put your tree outside the bin store but do not block access to it.

All decorations must be removed from the trees and they must be clearly visible outside your property to ensure bin crew collection.

Residents will also be able to recycle their genuine Christmas trees free of charge at the Villiers Road Household Reuse and Recycling Centre.
