A second stabbing has occurred near Sutton train station just over two weeks after a 17-year-old boy was killed at the same location.

Officers were called to a south London hospital at 8.35pm yesterday (December 21) after a man admitted himself with stab injuries.

The incident is believed to have happened near Sutton railway station.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police confirmed today (December 22) that his condition was assessed as not life threatening.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries continue.

This incident comes just weeks after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Sutton, supposedly just yards from this more recent attack.

Ilyas Habibi, 17, was a student from the area and died at the scene from his injuries.

On Tuesday (December 5) at around 7:08pm police and ambulance crews were called to the scene in Sutton High Street.

Police have revealed that Ilyas arrived at Sutton High Street by train and minutes after he came out of the station he station “he was involved in an altercation with the suspect who then fled the scene”.

Officers also said that it “isn’t clear if the suspect was also injured” and are asking the individual, or anyone who knows them, to come forward.

London Ambulance Service has confirmed that several resources were sent to the scene, along with support from London Air Ambulance.

On arrival officers found Ilyas suffering from knife injuries and he was provided with first aid.

He died at 7.53am at the scene.

Police have not provided any details about whether the two incidents could be linked in anyway.

His family have been notified and they are being supported by specialist officers.

A post-mortem examination will be held in the near future.

A crime scene on the High Street and near the train station was closed for a number of days after forensics being on scene for two days.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Nolan who leads the investigation said: “We know that Ilyas arrived at Sutton High Street by train.

“Minutes after he came out of the station he was involved in an altercation with the suspect who then fled the scene.

“Ilyas had suffered fatal wounds. It isn’t clear if the suspect was also injured. If you know the suspect, or if you are him, please get in touch.

"Members of the public who have information and material they want to share with us can do so via our online web portal."

Owner of a local café named La Café, Ankur Baria, told Your Local Guardian after the first incident: “In the last few months this is a second or third case of stabbing, it feels even more awful to know someone lost a life.

“When you see that one life is lost, it just dampens everything even more and my heart goes out to the family.“
