Bin collection days in Croydon will operate on a special timetable during this year’s holiday period.

The festive changes also apply to clinical waste collection.

Collections scheduled between Monday, December 25, and Friday, December 29, will take place two days later.

This means waste scheduled to be picked up on Tuesday, December 26, will be collected on December 28 instead, for example.

Those expecting collections on Friday, December 29, will take place four days later on January 2.

Collections scheduled between Monday, January 1, to Friday, January 5, will take place two days later while collections taken on the weekend of January 6 to 8 will occur three days later.

Collections between Monday, January 8, and Friday, January 12, will then take place a day later than expected, before normal collections are set to resume on Monday 15 January.

The local authority has urged people to place their bins out by 6am on the day of collection.

Christmas tree collection

Anyone wanting to have their genuine Christmas trees disposed of should leave them outside their address by January 8.

All decorations must be removed from the trees and they must be clearly visible outside your property to ensure bin crew collection.

Residents will also be able to recycle their genuine Christmas trees free of charge at the household refuse and recycling centres across the borough.
