A teen who assaulted police and threw fireworks on Clapham High Street on Bonfire Night has been sentenced to unpaid work. 

Christian Coker, 18, of West House Close in Southfields, was charged with assaulting by beating against four police officer and throwing fireworks in a public place after the incident on October 16. 

Coker appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on November 29 after he pleaded guilty to the offences. 

He was given a one-year community order and was told to complete 60 hours of unpaid work. 

He was also told to pay £400 in compensation to the police officers he assaulted.
