A man has been hospitalised following a flat fire in West Norwood.
The incident on York Hill involved around 40 firefighters and six fire engines.
Significant damage was caused to much of the two-roomed flat on the second floor of a residential block.
Prior to the arrival of fire crews, approximately 30 people evacuated the building.
The fire broke out at 9.22am was brought under control by 10.23am by crews from West Norwood, Brixton, Norbury and surrounding fire stations.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received 14 calls regarding the blaze.
Station Commander Pat Ackroyd, who was at the scene, said: "Firefighters worked incredibly hard to quickly bring the fire under control."
He also confirmed that York Hill is temporarily closed as crews ensured the scene was safe, but is expected to reopen shortly.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
