A 22-year-old man has been jailed for four years after he admitted he killed his best friend by driving dangerously.
Jonathan Coombs, of Riverdale Road, Hanworth, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and was sentenced to four years imprisonment at Kingston Crown Court today.
He was also disqualified from driving for four years.
His Ford Fiesta car collided with parked vehicles and overturned in the early hours of June 19 last year in High Street, Hampton.
Police found the passenger, Johnathan Hughes, from Uxbridge Road, Hampton Hill, suffering from serious injuries. He was treated at the scene but later died from his injuries.
Coombs suffered from shock and was arrested at the scene.
Sergeant Peter Mosdell, from the Met's Traffic Garage said: "This was the tragic loss of life of a young man who had his whole life ahead of him. The driver lost control of his vehicle leading to the death of his best friend. Surely there is no stronger message to drivers to watch their speed. "
