Two teenage hooligans have being banned from entering an entire district after years of terrorising residents caught up with them.

Kenny and Ashley Davey have been forced out of their home and are no longer allowed to remain in New Addington under the terms of an antisocial behaviour order (Asbo).

The Asbo was granted after Croydon magistrates were presented with a catalogue of complaints from neighbours about the pair's unruly behaviour.

They heard how the two would threaten residents with violence, intimidate, harass and verbally abuse passersby as well as congregate with gangs day and night.

Ashley Davey, 19, was given, in his absence, a three year order prohibiting him entering New Addington on June 2. The order was served on him on Saturday, June 14.

His brother, Kenny, 16, received a similar order on May 16. Both orders ban the youths from entering New Addington for three years. If they breach their orders they face up to five years in jail and a fine of up to £5,000, or both.

Their mother, Karen Davey, vacated the property in December after the council began repossession proceedings.

Councillor Dudley Mead, deputy leader and cabinet member for housing, said: "This is a victory for the council and the people of New Addington.

"The brothers were given a firm warning to change their behaviour or face court action but they chose to ignore that and have now been excluded from the community they harassed.

"Once again a parent has had to learn a bitter lesson because of their failure to control their children. Had Miss Davey treated the council's concerns seriously and stopped her sons from causing these problems she may have saved her tenancy."

A police spokesman said: "These two have terrorised New Addington since they moved there. The parents really did nothing to try to curb their behaviour and this Asbo is the result of that."
