A year after he was killed, the girlfriend of Mikey Brown, who was stabbed to death in a Kingston club, has spoken about her daily struggle to come to terms with his death.

Marcie Netting, 20, from Essex, had been with Mikey, a painter and decorator from New Addington, for three years when he was knifed in The Works on June 23 last year after a dispute on the dancefloor.

Marcie was pregnant with the couple's first child and gave birth to their son, Romarni, just 16 days after Mikey died.

"It's been so hard since he's gone - I talk about him to Romarni all the time and the first word he said was dad," she said.

"I've got lots of pictures and a life size photo of Mikey over Romarni's cot - he looks so much like his dad."

Monday marked a year since Mikey's died and Marcie is still waiting for justice.

Shaun Greenidge, 19, of Hilary Avenue, Mitcham, admitted Mikey's manslaughter at the Old Bailey in May.

He will be sentenced on July 11.

Marcie said she marked the anniversary by visiting Mikey's grave at Wandsworth Cemetery and said everything changed the day he died.

"Everything was shattered in that one instance. I knew Romarni would never meet his dad and I would never see Mikey again.

"We had so many plans - we were going to get a house and Mikey was going to get a better job for us."

Kingston police have had a successful month combating knife crime in the borough following the launch of the Metropolitan Police's Operation Blunt II in May.

Three people have been arrested since the operation started on May 13- one of which was caught trying to enter another town centre venue, McClusky's with a knife.
