Seventh seed David Nalbandian was almost rendered speechless by his straight sets defeat to Canadian Surbiton Trophy winner Frank Dancevic on the opening day of the Wimbledon Championships.
The Argentine went down 6-4 6-2 6-4 on Court One to a 22-year-old ranked 88 places below him in the world ranking and his mood hadn't lifted by the time he answered questions in his post-match interview.
The 26-year-old former finalist, who claimed he was not 100 per cent fit but gave no reason, delivered a series of one word and one sentence answers in a bizarre exchange with reporters.
But when pushed he did at least admit he was not at his best.
"I didn't play well. I never thought it was going to be like this. I expected better than this for sure," he added.
