Crystal Palace have agreed a fee with Championship rivals Bristol City for midfield maestro Nick Carle.
However, with manager Neil Warnock also having a bid for another unnamed midfielder accepted, it is unclear whether Carle will come to SE25 with the Yorkshireman thought to need just one midfielder.
Australian Carle, 26, impressed against Palace the four times he faced them last season and could be seen as a straight replacement for Ben Watson who seems ever more likely to leave Selhurst Park having rejected a new contract.
Warnock said: "We have spoken to two central midfield players who we have made offers for. We have agreed a fee with Bristol City and we've spoken to Nick.
"I am away until Thursday now though so nothing will be happening until then."
Carle only joined Bristol City from Turkish side Genclerbirligi in January for £600,000 and it is thought Palace have had to pay far more than that to prise him away from the Robins.
