The getaway car believed to be used by the killers of a shop manager from Herne Hill to flee the murder scene was seen parked in a residential street nine miles away shortly afterwards, police have revealed.

Matalan manager Jamie Simpson, 33, was stabbed to death as he cashed up the day's takings at the branch in Kingsland shopping centre, in Dalston, east London on March 22.

His killers are believed to have fled empty-handed in a black Ford Fiesta parked in Dalston Lane.

The car was later seen parked in Dore Avenue, Manor Park, but was moved and has not been found.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: "Officers would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the vehicle or may have been offered the car for scrap to contact them."

The fresh clue, announced last Friday, came two days after an 18-year-old was questioned in connection with the murder, bringing the total number of arrests to 11. He has been bailed to return to an east London police station early next month.

Police now believe four men, aged between 16 and 25, were involved in the attack, but only three entered the store.

The suspected getaway car is a black, five-door Ford Fiesta, with the registration number N170 DMF.

Matalan has offered a £40,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Mr Simpson's killers.
