The latest gym concept craze in London is one that’s come from Australia, and I had the best time when I tried it out.

There are so many gym classes and fitness options across London - and sometimes there are too many to know what's right, what's wrong and what's affordable.

I fancied trying something new so I went to BFT in Battersea with a friend one evening after work, and I for sure was put to my paces.

I sweated a lot, I pushed myself a lot, but most importantly it was fun and I felt comfortable.

BFT stands for body fit training - which is exactly what it was, I’d felt like I’d had a real full body workout.

BFT is Australia’s fastest-growing fitness brand and it’s just opened adjacent to Battersea Power Station and Battersea Park.

The fitness studio was launched by Charlie Hendrie, who is a certified personal trainer who has lived and worked in London since 2014.

My friend and I did the beast mode class which involves boxing, BJJ, Judo and MMA.

Don’t get me wrong, it was hard, and I struggled, but I was never made to feel like that was a problem.

The trainers made you feel great, made you feel like it was a one-to-one session, and really motivated you along the way.

I came away feeling like I’d done a proper workout, but one that I’d been able to have fun with at the same time.

It felt accessible for all, regardless of fitness level.

This session was 50 minutes long, and they all work on a progression across 13 different programmes which are functional strength, cardio and conditioning-based.

Classes run from 5.30am to 7.30pm Monday to Friday and 7.30am to 12pm on Saturday – and that much-needed rest day is on a Sunday.

With plans to open nine more studios over the next three years in south London, watch this space – it’s a boutique fitness studio with excitement, goals, and a community focus.

Charlie says “it’s a lot like personal training, but refined” and I couldn’t agree more.

I'll definitely be going back.
