A woman was forced into a car against her will and kidnapped in Thornton Heath yesterday (March 28).

Police were called to Broughton Road at 1.37pm after members of the public saw a woman being forced into a car against her will.

Officers said that they immediately launched an investigation and later found the victim at a home in Westbrook Road.

An officer was bitten on the thigh by a dog when visiting the address.

A man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap as well as on suspicion of having a dangerously out of control dog and was taken into custody.

The man and woman involved are believed to be known to each other.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to Broughton Road, Thornton Heath at 1.37pm on March 28 following reports that a woman was seen being forced into a car against her will.

“An investigation was launched immediately.

“The woman was found at an address in Westbrook Road.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and taken into custody. He was further arrested for a dangerously out of control dog after an officer was bitten on the thigh.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“The woman and the man are believed to be known to each other.”
