Three people were stabbed and rushed to hospital in a horror evening in Croydon last night.

The violence began when emergency services were called to a stabbing on Elmwood Road at 4.14pm yesterday (March 20).

A man, believed to be aged 18, was found with a stab injury and taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition.

One man was arrested nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

A crime scene remains in place.

Later in the evening, at 5.26pm, the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service were called to Church Street to reports of a large group of youths fighting.

Two youths, both believed in their teens, had suffered stab injuries, and were taken to hospital.

Both their conditions have been assessed as non-life-threatening.

At least one youth has been arrested and an extensive crime scene is in place.

The Met Police were granted a Section 60 Order from 7.15pm last night until 6am today (March 21).

In total emergency services treated three patients and took them all to a major trauma centre, by road, as a priority.

London Ambulance Service rushed three patients to hospital in total.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We responded to several calls to reports of stabbings in Croydon yesterday (20 March).

“The first call was at 4.14pm about an incident in Elmwood Road and we sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, a motorcycle paramedic, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.

“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We were then called at 5.26pm about an incident in Church Street and we sent an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer.

"Again, we dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We were called at 6.05pm to reports of another stabbing in Church Street, where we still had resources at the scene including an advanced paramedic. We also sent a further ambulance crew.

“In total we treated three patients and took them all to a major trauma centre, by road, as a priority.”
