London Ambulance Service has treated three stabbing victims in Croydon in one day – rushing them all to major trauma centres.

London Ambulance Service said it responded to “several calls” to reports of stabbings in Croydon on March, 20.

The first incident took place at 4:14pm on Elmwood Road in Croydon, where one man was later arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. 

One man, believed to be 18, was taken to hospital following a stab injury in a “critical but stable condition.”

A crime scene currently remains in place.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police were called at 16:13hrs on Monday, 20 March to a report of a stabbing on Elmwood Road, Croydo.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.

“A man, believed to be aged 18, was found with a stab injury.

“He was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition.

“One man was arrested nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

“A crime scene remains in place.”

London Ambulance was called to the scene at 4:14pm and dispatched several emergency vehicles to the scene including an incident response officer and an Air Ambulance.

A further two stabbings happened on Church Street, at around 5:25pm.

Police were called to the scene following multiple reports of a large group of youths fighting.

Two youths, who police believe to be in their teens, were taken to hospital from stab injuries.

Both injuries have been assessed as “non-life threatening.”

Police say “at least one youth” has been arrested and an “extensive crime scene” is in place.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police received multiple calls at 17:25hrs on Monday, 20 March to reports of a large group of youths fighting in Church Street, Croydon.

“Two youths, both believed in their teens, had suffered stab injuries.

“They have been taken to hospital. Both their conditions have been assessed as non life-threatening.

“At least one youth has been arrested.

“An extensive crime scene is in place.

A Section 60 Order granting police additional stop and search powers has been authorised from 1915hrs to 0600hrs.”

Ambulance crews were called to the first incident on Church Street at 5:26pm and sent several emergency response vehicles including fast response cars and an air ambulance.

At 6:05pm ambulance crews were called to the second stab incident on Church Street.

London Ambulance Service said that there were resources at the scene to attend the incident, however a further ambulance crew was despatched.

A total of three patients were treated and rushed to a major trauma centre by road.

A spokesperson for London Ambiance Service said: “We responded to several calls to reports of stabbings in Croydon yesterday (20 March).

“The first call was at 4.14pm about an incident in Elmwood Road and we sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, a motorcycle paramedic, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.

“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We were then called at 5.26pm about an incident in Church Street and we sent an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer.

“Again, we dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. “We were called at 6.05pm to reports of another stabbing in Church Street, where we still had resources at the scene including an advanced paramedic. We also sent a further ambulance crew.

“In total we treated three patients and took them all to a major trauma centre, by road, as a priority.”
